Squadron 2 operates from Kirtland Air Force Base in
Albuquerque. Base Administration has generously assigned use of one half
of Hangar 444 on the west side of the base, where we house the six
aircraft assigned to the squadron (Two 206's, Two 172's, One 182, and One
T-34). The
hangar includes support facilities
for aircraft maintenance and mission preparation and debriefing.
The aircraft are equipped for instrument flight and have additional
mission-related communication, navigational, and
photographic capabilities.
All are equipped to CAP standards for search and rescue operations.
Beyond the satisfaction of FAA standards
and regulations, pilots are expected to maintain CAP directed flight proficiency.
They
pay hourly rates for flying time other than formal Mission Flights.
Participation in the monthly maintenance meeting permits a five dollar
reduction of the hourly flight fee for personal proficiency flights.
